DELTA Module 2
(What is DELTA?)

around 7 weeks

Start Date

Sat 12 Jun 2021

End Date

Fri 30 Jul 2021

Full Time

You will attend input sessions and teach and observe in classes (some of these will be in the evenings). You should not plan to do anything else for the duration of the course. Free days may be mid week rather than weekends and will be different times for different participants and will not be clear until you actually start the course. The course will start on the Saturday / Sunday with input.

Kurban Bayram (a major holiday) is from the 19th - 23rd July. This both an advantage (lots more time to prepare for your final LSA4 so it is outstanding) and a disadvantage (it means the course runs to 7 weeks this year not six). You would not be required to be in at all that week, but would likely want to spend most of your time working on your final lesson.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there any cost to apply?
No. Applications are completely free. You will only be asked to pay for your course after you have been accepted.
How long does it take to apply?
The first part of the application should take around 5-15 minutes to complete.
What happens after I apply?
You will be sent the second stage of the application, specific to the school to which you have applied.
When should I apply?
As early as possible, as Cambridge English courses are limited in size and often fill up.
Can I apply to more than one school?
Sure! In fact, your initial application will be filled out automatically after you complete the first one.

Delta is a flexible, three-module qualification for people with experience of teaching English to speakers of other languages who want to progress further in their careers. Because it is awarded by Cambridge English Language Assessment, part of the University of Cambridge, Delta is internationally recognised, highly respected and a benchmark for quality.

Module 1 (the exam) focuses on extending and developing candidates’ knowledge and understanding of teaching and learning English in a range of contexts.

Module 2 (teaching practice) focuses on developing awareness and expertise in the principles and professional practice of teaching English in a range of contexts.

Module 3 (course design) focuses on needs analysis, syllabus design, course planning and assessment.

The three modules can also be taken separately and are separately certificated.

The three modules of Delta will:

  • extend your knowledge and understanding of the principles and practice of English language teaching
  • encourage you to critically examine your current beliefs and practices as a teacher
  • help you apply your new knowledge and understanding to your current teaching role
  • extend your knowledge of English language teaching in contexts other than adult learners
  • develop your career by allowing you to apply for more senior roles.

This qualification is for teachers with some experience who want to:

  • build on their initial English teaching qualification and progress further in their career
  • extend their professional knowledge, develop their skills and apply these to different teaching contexts
  • take on new and challenging responsibilities in their teaching careers
  • demonstrate a commitment to the profession and prove their ability
  • examine their existing practices and beliefs.

The Cambridge Delta is recognised and accepted all over the world by organisations employing English language teachers. All three modules are separately accredited by Ofqual, the regulator for qualifications, exams and tests in England at Level 7 on the National Qualifications Framework for England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Delta modules can also be integrated into some MA programmes in the UK.

Cambridge say that people entering the course will normally have at least two years' full-time relevant teaching experience, a first degree, an initial teaching qualification, a range of teaching experience, and a sufficient level of English. As the wording suggests, these are not absolute requirements. In practice, though, course providers are quite precious about their pass rates and so often impose their own requirements (such as a longer period of teaching experience) on people applying to take the course through them. Having taken part in a lot of professional development is probably the most useful thing for actually passing the course.

Istanbul is a major city in Turkey that straddles Europe and Asia across the Bosphorus Strait. Its Old City reflects cultural influences of the many empires that once ruled here. In the Sultanahmet district, the open-air, Roman-era Hippodrome was for centuries the site of chariot races, and Egyptian obelisks also remain. The iconic Byzantine Hagia Sophia features a soaring 6th-century dome and rare Christian mosaics.

Course Feedback

I have really enjoyed my experience with the ITI tutors - they are all very knowledgeable, professional and highly devoted to their job. During my CELTA course the tutors were very supportive and I have learned a lot from them! Besides learning so much about English teaching, I have also learned many tricks about teaching online and I have definitely upgraded my skills in that area :) So I will definitely recommend everyone to take an online CELTA course here, at ITI.

, Workshops - Strategies for teaching speaking student,

Although it was a long course, it was a nice experience to work with ITI and all the staff.

, CELTA Online student,

I'm really happy with both of my tutors Majid and Liz! They were very professional, helpful and provided me with valuable, detailed though tactful feedback. The only thing I wish was added to the course is final one-on-one session with the tutor, where we could have discussed progress, further development and other private matters. Best of luck!

, CELTA Online student,
